There are an infinite amount of real-life common situations in which people, especially women, can be attacked.

Here are just a few…

Being attacked when you’re:

  • Walking to or from your car
  • Running errands such as going to the grocery or to the mall
  • Leaving a restaurant
  • Working out or exercising outside such as going for a run
  • On a date
  • At a bar or dance club…especially when alcohol is involved
  • With your baby or little children
  • With an angry spouse or significant other
  • Meeting a client or customer for a business transaction

And to make matters worse…

You could be attacked by more than 1 person…maybe even 2…3…or even 5…

And they may attack you with some sort of stick, knife, or gun.

At Counter for Counter Martial Arts, the ultimate objectives for our students when facing an attack are to fight back, disable, escape, and survive.

With practice, our students are able turn the tables on their attackers and decisively disable those who intend to hurt, rape, or kill them.

We factor in many components…especially the general difference in physical size and strength between men and women.  Rather than teach our women to be intimidated by attackers who are much bigger and stronger than they are, we teach them simple yet highly effective techniques that are easy to learn and become instinctive after a few repetitions.

Our approach makes the attacker’s size and strength much less relevant since our techniques are based on leverage and hitting key targets on an attacker’s body.

We also factor in the psychological and emotional components of being attacked as well as both cultural and social norms that play into whether or not a woman will end up becoming a victim.

Here are some statistics:

Somewhere in America, a woman is being raped every 2 minutes.

28% of victims are raped by their husbands or boyfriends, 35% by acquaintances, and 5% by other relatives.

1 of every 4 rapes takes place in a public area or in a parking garage.

68% of rapes occur between the hours of 6 pm & 6 am.

In 29% of rapes, the offender used a weapon.

In 47% of rapes, the victim sustained injuries other than rape injuries.

75% of females rape victims require medical care after the attack.

To more closely simulate a realistic attack…

Women will train both with and against their male classmates

in this mixed class.

We have found that teaching self defense to women and not having the presence of male energy in the class actually does women a disservice since it results in women not being trained to effectively counter one or more attackers who may be bigger, stronger, and much more aggressive.
